In collaboration with SNV Cambodia Aeres Training Centre Barneveld provided technical expertise to strengthen poultry production systems for small-scale farmers in Cambodia. The initiative forms part of a broader Asian Development Project designed to upgrade agricultural practices and improve livelihoods.
NEW Improving small-scale poultry farming in Cambodia
Practical training empowers farmers to improve their livelihoods
The project began with an in-depth assessment of the Cambodian poultry sector conducted jointly with Farmer and Nature Net Association (FNN), a non-profit farmer organization. Based on the findings, Aeres developed practical training materials tailored to the local context. These materials were subsequently used to train FNN trainers directly in the field, ensuring that knowledge could be transferred effectively to farming communities.
By the end of 2024, Aeres carried out a third mission to evaluate and fine-tune the training programme. The results were encouraging: farmer participation was high, and many farmers demonstrated clear improvements in both technical practices and economic performance after applying the skills they acquired. The project has contributed to a more resilient and professional poultry sector, offering better prospects for small-scale producers in Cambodia.
