Strenghtening Agriculture TVET Teacher Training in Kenya and The Netherlands

The project will contribute to:

  • Agricultural growth
  • Ecologically sustainable food systems
  • Water efficiency in agriculture

and so to the achievement of SDG 2.

This will be done through the strengthening of capacity, knowledge and quality of individuals as well as key organisations in the sector and organisations in the field of Technical and Vocational Education and Training and Higher Education in Kenya.

And also through the inclusion of gender inclusiveness, good agriculture practices (GAP) and the use of ICT in ATVET teacher training programmes, that will result in improved curricula and better equipped teachers resulting in better preparation of students to contribute to sustainable agriculture after graduation.

Outputs

  • Teacher training curriculum improvement
  • agriculture training curriculum improvement (at different levels)
  • Design and implementation of ATVET teacher training traineeship programmes and workplace based learning programmes at selected ATVET institutes and private sector companies
  • Capacity building of teachers and trainers (covering pedagogical, didactical and technical skills)
  • Institutionalization and strengthening of the collaboration with private sector to support curriculum development, traineeship programmes, workplace based learning, overall intensified dialogue and cooperation through the (e-) portal, and cooperation for the development of joint financing mechanisms
  • Quality assurance mechanisms improved
