Aeres’ history goes back nearly one hundred years. Through various mergers, Aeres developed into a broad educational group for leading green education, practice-oriented research and commercial courses throughout the green sector.
In the Netherlands, Aeres is the only green knowledge institution offering programmes at all educational levels: master, bachelor, associate degree, upper secondary vocational training (mbo), pre-vocational education (vmbo) and practical education.

Within the Technology knowledge area, Aeres, together with business partners, focuses on technological innovation in the green sector. It turns out that not only precision agriculture and smart farming play a role in the operations of arable and livestock farms. Technology for cooling and storing food products also plays a role. -
Agri
The Netherlands is a global leader in the production of high-quality, safe, and healthy food. Innovation, circularity, and agricultural entrepreneurship characterize the sector, which plays a vital role in (international) food security. -
Animal
The Animal domain focuses primarily on domestic animals and horses. Wildlife is also covered. Animal health, animal welfare, and the interaction between animals and humans are central themes in the educational and research activities. -
Food
With a growing global population, providing everyone with sufficient and healthy food is a challenge. Thanks to innovative technologies, we are increasingly able to process food sustainably and combat food waste. -
Healthy Living environment
A resilient ecosystem for people and nature. Aeres contributes to this through its Healthy Living Environment expertise. This is achieved, for example, by making the living environment future-proof through greening, nature and water management, and climate adaptation. -
Green Education
Aeres educates green changemakers. This is achieved by developing, offering, and supporting leading education and applied research with a green focus. The Green Education knowledge area specifically targets (future) practical teachers, educational professionals, learning innovators, and knowledge managers who can convey this green vision to future generations.

With leading green education and applied research in the fields of agriculture, animal, food, a healthy living environment and technology, we contribute to a sustainable society and the associated green transitions. Firmly embedded in society and the professional field, we train pupils, students and course participants to become critical global citizens and challenge them as (prospective) professionals to build tomorrow’s liveable and future-proof world based on well-founded knowledge.

Study at Aeres
Aeres provides education and training at Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor and Master level. In addition to the standard international programs and courses, Aeres develops and conducts tailor-made training courses all over the world.
Collaboration
Aeres collaborates with many other education and knowledge institutions worldwide for development of educational programmes and research. This stimulates Dutch and foreign students and teachers to improve their international skills and learning from others.
