Date

Aeres University of Applied Sciences has signed a memorandum of understanding with Zhongkai University in China to collaborate in the fields of education and research. Both parties have outlined their intentions in a document that was signed in Guangzhou on 12 April. The signing took place during a trade mission organised by the Dutch government.

Zhongkai University and Aeres UAS are both knowledge institutes with a key specialism in education for the green sector. Both organisations have identified a wide range of areas for cooperation. These focus areas will now be studied and specified in greater depth. Focus areas include:

student exchange programmes;
staff exchange programmes;
setting up joint study programmes, including subjects such as food safety and international practice-oriented education;
cooperating in research and projects.

Joep Houterman, from the board of directors at Aeres, was a member of the Dutch trade mission delegation and signed the declaration with Zhongkai University on behalf of Aeres UAS. The first joint initiative concerns training auditors for food safety. Both partners are already discussing the details of this study programme and the team that will be responsible for providing the training. A delegation from Zhongkai University will be visiting the Netherlands in May for meetings on this subject and to discuss the further specifics of the partnership.

Proud of new partnership

Aeres UAS has been active in China for ten years and is proud of the new partnership with Zhongkai University. This collaboration offers students and staff in China and the Netherlands an outstanding opportunity to gain international experience in a different culture. It also signals an important step in strengthening education skills and the exchange of knowledge between both countries.
