Aeres MBO best AOC according to Keuzegids MBO 2019

Aeres MBO is the best agricultural training centre (AOC) in the Netherlands according to Keuzegids MBO 2019 (MBO Selection Guide), published today. Aeres MBO achieved first place with 66.5 points. Helicon took second place with 61 points, followed by and Clusius College who share third place with 59 points.

Uninterrupted Top-3 position

Since the first publication of Keuzegids in 2010, Aeres MBO has been continuously in the Top-3. "We are very pleased with the positive ratings from our students and the inspectorate, and we are proud of all our employees who have achieved this great result," said Truda Kruijer, Managing Director. "It is the reward for the continuous management of the quality and topicality of the primary process. It is great to see that commitment reflected in the results and the appreciation of our stakeholders," says Kruijer.

15 Top Programs

The courses in agricultural contracting, (bio-dynamic) cultivation and (bio-dynamic) livestock farming have been awarded the title of top program because of their score of 75 points. A total of 15 training courses of Aeres MBO in Emmeloord, Dronten and Barneveld have received this designation. Compared with last year (65 points), appreciation for the aforementioned training has increased. The Aeres MBO Emmeloord location came out on top with 9 top programs. This higher score can be explained, among other things, by excellent relations with the business community, which ensures up-to-date education. A high percentage of graduates, high throughput during training (few people lagging behind), a good school climate and sufficient relevant internship places in the region are also of influence.

Independent guide

The offer of MBO courses in the Netherlands is considerable. To create clarity about the quality differences between the various MBO programs, Keuzegids publishes an independent guide every year. It assesses and compares programs and schools in secondary vocational education (ROCs, AOCs and Vocational Schools). This is done via the national JOB monitor (biennial student satisfaction survey) and data from the education inspectorate, among others. More information can be found at
